Holiday Fire Safety Tips

It’s exactly one week until Christmas! We’ve been busy at my house, baking cookies, decorating, and wrapping presents. It’s definitely been a very busy holiday season both at home and at work! We have quite a few house fires under our belt, and we wanted to remind everyone about the dangers of the holiday season, as it’s easy to forget about simple safety measures during the hustle and bustle of the holidays.
- If you have a live tree, make sure to keep it watered! A dry tree can burn extremely fast, and extremely hot!
- Keep lit candles away from flowy decorations and dry plants. Keep them up on a shelf, away from pets as well. If possible, use battery operated candles instead.
- Inspect all your electrical decorations for frayed or damaged wires when you decorate, replace any electrical plugs that seem dangerous.
- Keep close when you’re baking or cooking! Cooking related fires are all too common in the holiday season. Keep a close eye on that turkey, and make sure it’s very dry and room temperature if you’re frying one this Christmas.
Be safe, and from our family here at SERVPRO of Lake Worth/Benbrook to yours – have a great holiday!
